Orphans Atma project – Clean and fresh water for everyone

Our project to support Atma refugee camp continues regarding  particularly orphan children and, when it is possible, the entire community.

In agreement with our partners who always update us about the situation of children and the camp, we have chosen to concentrate our efforts on a very precious good: clean drinking and possible fresh water.

The camp gives hospitality to 70.000 people but no running water. A tank system is used where families can get water. The ration of water is 10 liters per day per family including drinking, cooking and washing if possible.

It is absolutely  insufficient. Families are numerous and the need to drink is strong especially for those who live in tents. In that area temperatures can range between 39 – 52 degrees.

Thanks to  the contribution of our supporters and to the precious collaboration of Bridge of peace, particularly of Tamer, responsible of Bridge of Peace Middle East,

Support Syrian Children managed to distribute 2.400 liters of water and ice.

In total four tanks , three in Atma camp and 1 in Al Wlled camp (near few km from Atma).

Thanks also to the commitment of 3 people for a whole day.

In the end , we succedeed in helping  120 families. As we always  do,  we first favoured the  families made up of single mothers with small children, mainly those who take care of the increasingly number of orphans. We totally reached 500 people, 400  of them children.

The inhabitants of the two camps strongly appreciated the arrival of clean, potable and fresh water, and asked us to be able  to enjoy of this great gift also in the following days: for them now water and food are the greatest blessing.

Tamer, whom we cannot but thank, without him we wouldn’t be able to act, left us  his feelings:

” It was not easy, but seeing the  children so happy was paramount , and made the venture less tiring. Their enthusiasm and their help were very important. Despite the environmental difficulties, the children did their best  to make our job easier.  The joy on their faces  is a priceless reward for  our commitment .

They are wonderful children, their will to live and their joyful effort to overcome the great difficulties always surprise me,  better, they always teach me something more.  We will never stop helping them.”

Our goal has been reached,  we cannot but thank  all the people who backed us  and gave financial support.

Thank you!

We would like  to be able to carry on with this project , and hope for your never ending help.
