When Hope Returns to the Eyes of Young People.

We have just returned from the refugee camp and, as happens after every mission, we carry back with us images, encounters, and emotions that remain long after the journey home.

This time, however, there is something that touched us more deeply than anything else.

A Change You Can See

During the mission, we completed all planned distributions: every family received the support and vouchers intended to help meet their daily needs.

But the most important result cannot be measured in numbers.

It is reflected in the children.

We met them in their tents, along the camp’s narrow paths, and in their classrooms. We watched them play, study, and grow. The difference compared to previous years is evident. It can be seen in their faces, in the way they are dressed, in their health, and in the serenity they still manage to preserve despite a life spent far from home.

This change did not happen by chance.

It is the result of years of support, constant presence, and a community that chose not to abandon these families. Year after year, we have watched these children grow, and today we can say with certainty that the journey we have shared is leaving a tangible mark on their lives.

A New Awareness in the Camp

During our visits, we sensed a profound change among the families as well.

They know that returning home is not an immediate possibility. They know that what began years ago as a temporary solution has become a long-term reality.

Yet alongside this painful awareness, another realization has emerged.

They know they are not alone.

They know there is a network of people who continue to stand beside them and believe in their future.

From this certainty, a simple but powerful thought has taken root: if the past cannot be changed, perhaps the future of their children still can.

Young People Looking Beyond the Camp

While younger children are still protected by the innocence of childhood, teenagers and young adults carry a different burden.

They understand the reality around them. Through their phones they see the outside world, opportunities that seem impossibly distant, and they fully grasp the limitations imposed by their circumstances.

Many of them were born in the camp or arrived when they were too young to remember any other life.

For this reason, many feel suspended between worlds, forgotten, and without real prospects.

And yet, they still have dreams.

Listening to Their Dreams

We spent many hours sitting beside these young people.

We listened to them one by one, hearing their stories, hopes, fears, and expectations.

Some dream of learning a profession. Others hope to continue their education. Some simply want the opportunity to build an independent life.

Alongside those dreams, however, there are also fears.

The fear of change.

The fear of leaving the only reality they have ever known.

The fear of not being capable of seizing opportunities should they arise.

But as we spoke about real possibilities, we saw something light up in their eyes.

We saw hope being born.

A New Challenge Ahead

These conversations led us to an important reflection.

Over the years, we have worked to provide protection, education, medical care, and support for families. Today, we feel it is time to create opportunities for these young people as well.

For this reason, we are exploring the possibility of developing an educational and vocational training pathway for young people between the ages of sixteen and twenty-five.

An ambitious project designed to provide skills, tools, and real opportunities to build their future.

We know it will not be easy.

We know it will require commitment, resources, and careful planning.

We do not yet have all the answers, but we know it is worth trying.

Together, Once Again

Looking back on the journey we have travelled so far, we think of the many challenges that once seemed impossible.

Yet together we have provided medical care, education, protection, and support to thousands of people.

Today, a new path is opening before us.

And we continue to carry in our hearts the look in those young people’s eyes when they realized that someone was truly listening to their dreams.

That hope now belongs to all of us.
